Department Introduction

Our university, established in Tarsus district of Mersin on 18.05.2018, has a total of one institute, seven faculties and three vocational schools. Our department, Healthcare Management, which is under the Faculty of Applied Sciences, started its activities as of 2021.
Following the World Health Organization's removal of health from the status of "not being sick", the concepts of health and illness started to be viewed from different perspectives. Today, with regard to health, many factors that are defined as social determinants of it (age, gender, unemployment, working conditions, poverty, housing, social environment, access to clean food and water, physical activity status, dependency, transportation, social services, education) an "umbrella concept" of space comes to mind. As health managers, we define health, such a multidimensional concept, with the scientific principles of management. Therefore, healthcare management should be defined as a deep rooted branch of science that has both macro dimensions as in the case of health system management and micro dimensions as in the case of the provision of a certain health service with its multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary relationships with many scientific fields such as public health, industrial engineering, sociology, psychology and business administration.
